The language of Dionysius in the very brief fragments remaining, shews traces of an acquaintance with the Gospel of St. Matthew, the Acts, the first Epistle to the Thessalonians, and the Apocalypse. There is, therefore, no reason for limiting to the Old Testament the “expositions of the divine scriptures,” which Eusebius tells us were contained in the letter of Dionysius to the churches of Pontus.
